چکیده

Background: Hallux valgus (HV) is a gait-altering orthopedic deformity, somewhat more prevalent in women, which often affects both limbs. Although surgery commonly applied treatment, there no consensus the literature on how invasive HV correction spatiotemporal gait parameters, or quickly improvement can be expected. We investigated parameters female patients who underwent bilateral surgical of hallux valgus, preoperatively and 18 weeks following (a timeframe relevant from perspective physical therapy), also relation to non-HV control group. Methods: A total 23 women aged 40–70 years, with moderate severe deformity feet, were assessed postoperatively, an age-matched group 76 healthy was assessed. 22 collected during 30 s walks over electronic walkway (Zebris Medical System). Results: Of analyzed, significant differences between preoperative experimental groups found only 4 (Velocity, Right step time, Total double support Stride time), but 16 postoperative (the greatest impact being for: Left Step Cadence, Foot rotation, length (% leg length) length)). Conclusions: Women after did not exhibit improved (i.e., normal) at postoperatively; rather, they showed abnormalities than preoperatively. These findings urge longer-term planning rehabilitation, involving continual evaluation improvement.

Gait parameters associated with hallux valgus: a systematic review

BACKGROUND Hallux valgus (HV) has been linked to functional disability and increased falls risk in older adults. However, specific gait alterations in individuals with HV are unclear. This systematic review investigated gait parameters associated with HV in otherwise healthy adults. METHODS Electronic databases (Medline, Embase, CINAHL) were searched to October 2011, including cross-sectional...

Surgical Treatment of Hallux Valgus

Hallux valgus deformity is an often deformity in which first metatarsophalangeal joint is subluxated due to the lateral deviation of thumb and medial deviation of metatarsal bone. As deformity progresses, it results in function and uniformity loss, with lateral displacement of thumb and deformity of claw toe and hammer toe. Shoes’ pressure on bunion area causes its inflammation and pain. Conser...

Treatment of Pseudoarthrosis After Minimally Invasive Hallux Valgus Correction

OBJECTIVE Treatment of mild and moderate hallux valgus deformities. DISCUSSION Minimally invasive technique enables surgeons to treat mild and moderate hallux valgus deformities with excellent and good results in the majority of patients. Nonunion of first metatarsal, moreover, has only rarely been reported. SUMMARY We describe the essential steps of a surgical technique for the treatment o...

Hallux valgus angle as main predictor for correction of hallux valgus

BACKGROUND It is recognized that different types of hallux valgus exist. Classification occurs with radiographic and clinical parameters. Severity of different parameters is used in algorithms to choose between different surgical procedures. Because there is no consensus about each parameter nor their cut-off point we conducted this study to analyze the influence of these variables on the posto...

The Effect of Hallux Valgus on Foot Angle during Gait

The Hallux Valgus and the first Metatarsalo Phalangeal joint have a major role during walking. So any condition that would impair the performance of the hallux, can influence the pattern of walking and consequently cause in reduction of efficiency in gait. One of the prevalent phenomenon of foot deformity, especially in females is Hallux valgus (HV) which is usually happened by various reasons ...
